Love

When I was in high school, one of my favorite songs was “What is Love?” by Howard Jones.

What is love anyway
Does anybody love anybody anyway

My sister and I used to spend hours pondering the same question. What is love? How do you know when you are “in love”?

Experiences throughout high school and college only further confused me.

Then, in 1991, I met my spiritual teacher & mentor, Great Grandmaster Dr. Tae Yun Kim. A martial artist. …one of the highest ranked in the world. …an author, lecturer, teacher, and more.

She introduced me to an idea that was foreign to me, but that I soon realized was the answer to my question.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim said that I needed to love myself first before I could expect someone to love me.

Self love.

I didn’t know what love was, how could I love myself?

Ah! That’s the answer!

I needed to discover love in myself for my Self FIRST.

I made the mistake of looking outside myself for love.

It wasn’t an easy task… learning to Love myself. But over time, training and mentoring by Dr. Kim, I can say that I do love myself…and I have found LOVE in my life!
